New DC co-boss James Gunn seems to have stunned the fanboy, it reports euphoriaJacob Elordi is rumored to play Superman in the filmmaker’s first iteration of The Man of Steel.
Gunn said on Twitter: “My thoughts are that no one has been cast as Superman yet.”
“Casting, as is almost always the case for me, will happen after the script is finished or almost finished, which is not the case,” he continued.
“We’ll be announcing a few things soon, but Superman’s cast won’t be among them,” Gunn added.
Meantime, Batman Director Matt Reeves revealed in a conversation with Collider that he expects to meet with Gunn and fellow DC boss Peter Safran in the coming weeks. The new DC administration is expected to unveil its eight-ten year plan for the comic universe.
“The Batverse thing, as James said, and as Peter said, it’s kind of a proprietary thing that they’re letting us do,” Reeves told Collider.
This means that Reeves can sustain a parallel universe with what Gunn and Safran are developing. Reeves also has an HBO Max Batman Spin-off series, expected to begin production this year, The Penguin, starring Colin Farrell.
“I had that dream the way I wanted it and that’s part of what I’ll talk to you about in a few weeks. They’re going to talk to me about what they’re doing in their 10-year plan, or certainly what’s in the near future, so we understand that we don’t — this is air traffic control — we don’t want to crash into each other. We want to support each other. I’m super excited. I am very excited about what they are doing and working with them. It’s going to be cool,” Reeves told Collider.
Known in the DC world as the “Elseworlds” strategy, this universe allows writers to create stories that take place in different timelines as long as they don’t conflict with the main canon narrative.
