The merger of Warner Bros. and Discovery really pissed me off. First, they cancel a bunch of projects and use them to cancel them so no one can ever enjoy them. So, they cancel a lot of their shows especially animated shows like Infinity train, so that no one can enjoy them either. They continued to remove items from HBO Max like Sesame street And Looney Tunes! Then they had the nerve to come out and say they’re done canceling and canceling projects like we believe them. Now they dare to raise the price of HBO Max subscriptions.

Starting January 2, you have to pay $15.99 plus tax in the US to use HBO Max. The reason given? “This one dollar price increase will allow us to continue investing in delivering programs that further define the culture and improve our customer experience for all users.” I’m calling 100% bullshit on this one! You cut programming left and right and now you expect me to believe you’re going to invest in programming and therefore need more money? Fuck yourself! Have you literally reduced the amount of content you offer and now you want more money?
A while back I wrote about some of the issues in the entertainment industry, including mergers like this one. There, I shared a video of Adam Conover testify about these mergers and the problem they are and how they negatively impact consumers and creators. This is another proof of that.
The one thing I’ll give them credit for is that this is the first time HBO Max’s price has increased since launch. However, having this after a months-long whirlwind of absolute garbage just feels like rubbing salt into the wound.
