Well, that’s where you can find these movies which are not horror but are very scary due to their creepy stories and which you can now watch on different streaming platforms.
One of the best examples of non-horror scary movies is ‘The Sacrifice of the Sacred Deer’. It is a psychological thriller with hints of magical realism, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and starring Nicole Kidman, Barry Keoghan and Colin Farrell. Stanley Kubrick is a master at scariest non-horror movies. And the best example of her is in “Eyes Wide Shut” with Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise. It is a drama in which a doctor argues with his wife, which sets off a nightmarish adventure that takes him to one of the darkest and most mysterious corners of New York. The tribe
Among the top 100 films of Ukrainian cinema, there is ‘The Tribe’, one of the most disturbing dramas of recent years. Directed by Myroslav Slaboshpytskyi and starring Yana Novikova and Rosa Babiy, the story follows a deaf teenager in a boarding school who, in order to survive, must be part of a tribe that only commits criminal acts.

Nocturnal animals
Tom Ford, fashion designer, sometime creative director of Gucci and director of “Nocturnal Animals,” has crafted a crime thriller that anyone could panic about. The story stars Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhall, which follows an art curator, who one day receives her ex-husband’s new novel, which contains quite a disturbing story. Requiem for a dream
Another master of the unsettling is Darren Aronofky with his ‘Requiem for a Dream’, a psychological thriller starring Jennifer Connelly, Jared Leto, Ellen Burnstyn and Marlon Wayans. The story has three parallel storylines, that of a lonely old woman addicted to pills, her nephew who has a drug problem and those of her friends, who are fighting their own battle to survive. Finally, we have one of the most terrifying and realistic movies ever made. We are talking about ‘Elephant’ by Gus Van Sant, inspired by the Columbine massacre, in which two boys come up with a detailed plan to break into their school and shoot their classmates, teachers and anyone who gets close. Available on HBO Max.
