James Cameron’S Titanic won 11 Academy Awards including Best Picture at the 1998 Academy Awards and Cameron took the stage to deliver his speech, saying, “There is no way I can express to you how I am feeling right now. my heart is filled to burst, except to say, ‘I am the king of the world.'”

Well, Cameron is having second thoughts about his speech and now it’s something he regrets and calls “noteworthy.” Discussing this with Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace? of CNN, he explained:
“What I’ve learned is that you don’t have to cite your film at the Academy if you win, because it’s newsworthy. It’s assuming you didn’t win by a narrow margin, but that every single person sitting in the audience on that night at the Kodak Theater we saw and loved Titanic. And we’ll never know how much we won, but it may not have been a landslide at all.”
Cameron went on to share that he “has been taking criticism for 25 years” for his comments. She also added, “You have to be careful what you say in your acceptance speech. Sally Field and I, we have a little self-help group together on this.”
Yeah, it was a cheesy moment, but you know what? She had just won an Oscar for best picture! He was excited and out of all the things he could say at the time, quoting his own movie with “I’m the king of the world!” that wasn’t the worst thing he could have said. The talk was actually pretty boring up until that point.
As for the reference she makes regarding Sally Field, she was criticized for her Places in the Heart speech in 1985 when she said in her speech, “I can’t deny the fact that you like me. Right now, you like me.” .
