Even if he came into this world like David Robert Jonesit went like David Bowie – and when he died in 2016, he left behind an artistic legacy that may never be seen again. Having developed a love for rock and roll, thanks to artists like Fats Domino Elvis PresleyY little Richard – David began pursuing a career in music in the early 1960s, adopting the stage name David Bowie, not to be confused with Davy Jones of The Monkees.
After his self-titled first album went nowhere, Bowie hit it big with “Space Oddity”. Music over Major Tom and Ground Control launched a career in which Bowie produced albums filled with psychedelia, glam rock, electronic experimentation and wild new sounds. He became a cultural icon, a fashion entity, a provocateur who celebrated punk, new wave, avant-garde art-rock and just about everything in between.
When he married his first wife, Maria BarnetBowie became a father for the first time, welcoming his son Duncan Jones in 1971. In 1992, Bowie married the model Magnet. They took in a daughter lexiconin 2000. Their love lasted until his death in 2016.
