Incredibly funny trailer for RENFIELD – The film inspired by Dracula by Nicolas Cage and Nicholas Hoult

Universal Pictures has released the first trailer of its Dracula– inspired horror comedy, Renfield. We have been quite excited and curious about this movie because Nicolas Cage takes on the role of rarcula and this trailer gives us our first look at him in action as the legendary vampire. As you will see, he’s going to be amazing as Dracula in this movie and he seems to have had a lot of fun playing this role!

The film is also the protagonist Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road, X-Men franchise) as Dracula’s faithful servant, Renfield, and he’s great in the movie too! This is definitely a very different take on the character, but I like where the movie is going!

The film was directed by Chris McCay (Tomorrow’s War, The LEGO Batman Movie) from a script by Ryan Ridley (Ghost seriesRick & Morti series), based on an original idea by The walking dead and invincible creator Robert Kirkmann. Here is the synopsis:

Evil doesn’t last forever without a little help.

In this modern monster tale of Dracula’s faithful servant, Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road, X-Men franchise) plays Renfield, the tortured aide to history’s most narcissistic boss, Dracula (Oscar® winner Nicolas Cage). Renfield is forced to procure his master’s prey and do his every bidding, no matter how degraded. But now, after centuries of servitude, Renfield is ready to see if there is life outside the shadow of The Prince of Darkness. Him if only he could figure out how to end his codependency.

The film co-stars Awkwafina (Farewell, Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Ben Schwartz (Sonic, the afterparty), And Adrian Martinez (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Focus).

Renfield is produced by Skybound Entertainment partners Robert Kirkman and David Alpert (The Walking Dead, Invincible), co-chairs Bryan Furst (Daybreakers) and Sean Furst (Daybreakers), and by Chris McKay. McKay’s producing partner Samantha Nisenboim (co-producer, Tomorrow’s War) will executive produce.

Renfield will be released in theaters on April 14, 2023.
