I have here a great epic fantasy short for you to watch today. It is entitled The rock of the ages and the story centers around a lost soldier on the run. As he flees for his life, the soldier comes across a cunning talking rock who promises to grant his deepest wish than he does, but “as always with this business, there’s a catch…”
The film was written and directed by Eron Sheeanand offered some insights into his film, saying:
“The Rock of Ages is a surreal black comedy, a mutant and inspiring lovechild Jim Henson, Terry GilliamAnd Ingmar Bergmann (if it was full of painkillers). Tell the story of a lost soldier (Thomas Lemarquis) and his encounter with a cunning talking rock (Ólafur Darri Ólafsson) which promises him immortality. But as always with these bargains, there’s a catch. I was inspired to create a surreal fable that explores humanity’s arrogance, both our fleeting existence in the face of nature and our reluctance to abide by its ancient rules.
This is a beautifully made film with a beautiful yet eerie landscape and was inspired by Icelandic folklore. I really enjoyed this short film and I hope you like it too!
