Cage himself shared the news in an interview with Screen Rant saying he won’t be returning for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. When asked if we will see Spider-Man Noir again, Cage replied: “You should ask Sony. I don’t know what’s going on. Nobody told me about it. Ask them. I don’t know. I really don’t know. I wish they they did. I also love Spider-Man Noir. I think he’s a great character. Spider-Man is the coolest superhero. And then you combine that with Cagney, Bogart and Edward G. Robinson, come on, he’s a great character.”
So, it looks like Spider-Man Noir may not be returning. I loved this character and was really hoping to see him more in the sequel, but now it seems like we won’t see him again! This is strange when you think about it because the film boasts of including 240 characters and will take place in six different universes. How is this the character receiving the ax?!
If Spider-Man Noir appears in the film, then he’s been recast and would be just plain ridiculous.
The film follows Miles Morales as the friendly Brooklyn neighborhood Spider-Man, “immersed in the multiverse where he joins forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-folk to take on a villain more powerful than anything they’ve ever encountered.” .
After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, “the friendly Brooklyn neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he meets a team of Spider-People charged with protecting his very existence. But when the heroes clash over how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.
The cast includes Shameik Moore like miles; Oscar Isaac as Miguel O’Hara aka Spider-Man 2099; Hailee Steinfeld like Gwen, Brian Tiree Henry as Miles’ father, Jefferson Davis; Luna Lauren Velez as Miles’ mom, Rio Morales; Issa Rae as Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman; Jorma Taccone as Vulture; Rachel Dratch; Shea Whigham; Greta Lee;Jason Schwartzmann like Stain; and Daniel Kaluya as Hobart “Hobie” Brown aka Spider-Punk.
The film is directed and produced by Justin K Thompson, Joaquim Dos Santosand Kemp Powers. Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Christine Steinberg they are also producing. Lord and Miller will also be credited as screenwriters on the film, along with David Callaham.
I’ve already watched 15 minutes of the movie which was pretty awesome! You can watch us talk about it here. The film will be released on June 2, 2023! There is also a third installment, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Versealready dated March 29, 2024.
