Tom Hanks thinks Mae West was wrong. Kindness has something to do with it.
Hanks ventured into Hollywood’s ongoing minion controversy with some thoughts. In an interview with the United Kingdom The sun, Hanks – whose son Truman stars with him in the new film A man named Otto – maintained that Hollywood is nothing more than a plumbing company.
“Look, this is a family business,” Hanks said. “We’ve been doing this for centuries. All our children grew up with it. If we were a plumbing company or ran the flower shop down the street, the whole family would end up putting in on time, even if it was just an inventory at the end of the year.”
Hanks said talent ultimately determines how far you go.
“What doesn’t change, whatever happens, whatever your last name is, is whether it works or not. That’s the problem when one of us goes out and tries to tell a new story or create something that has a beginning, a middle, and an end. It doesn’t matter what we are from. We have to work to make it a real and authentic experience for the audience.
