You People Trailer: Jonah Hill and Eddie Murphy compete as future in-laws in Kenya Barris’ debut film for Netflix

Netflix has released the first trailer for You guys – the star-studded comedy featuring the feature film debut of TV titan Kenya Barris (blackness). The film, starring Jonah Hill, Lauren London, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, David Duchovny, Eddie Murphy and Nia Long, will be released on the platform on January 27.

Written by Hill and Barris, You guys follows Ezra Cohen (Hill) and Amira Mohammed (London) who, after being brought together by a rideshare in LA, find a common love of streetwear and music. As they fall in love, their relationship is tested by their respective families: Ezra’s progressive and bland parents (Louis-Dreyfus and Duchovny) and Amira’s determined but concerned parents (Murphy and Long), who mercilessly interfere in their lives.

At the beginning of the film’s trailer, Ezra confides in a friend (Sam Jay) his fear of “never meeting a woman who understands.” [him].”

“I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a man who wants a relationship so badly. Next to Drake,” Jay’s character replies. ‘And I speak views Drake.”

We later see Ezra leaving work and getting into London’s car, believing her to be his Uber driver. And while she’s initially startled by Ezra’s invasion of her space, she eventually laughs it all off after seeing how much she actually does it force looks like the driver Ezra asked about.

Ezra offers to iron out the “insane” misunderstanding by taking Amira on a date, and soon the two prepare to meet each other’s families while Ezra plans his proposal.

“What’s happening? tell me about life How are you?” Ezra enthusiastically asks Amira’s parents at a meeting at Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles. Murphy’s Akbar then turns to Long’s Fatima and deadpans: “It’s your white grandfather coming back to haunt me.”

“So you want to marry my daughter?” Akbar continues. “Well, Ezra, you can to try.”

Barris’ first film also stars Elliott Gould, Travis Bennett, Molly Gordon, Rhea Perlman, Deon Cole, Andrea Savage, Mike Epps, Emily Arlook, Alani La La Anthony and Bryan Greenberg. Hill and Barris produced the film with Kevin Misher. Executive producers are David Hyman, Matt Dines, Hale Rothstein, Alison Goodwin, Mychelle Deschamps, Andy Berman and Charisse Hewitt-Webster.
