‘No Time to Die’ was Daniel Craig’s formal farewell to the role of Agent 007, and now Sony has been on a long-term quest to find out who will be the next actor to play the most famous spy of all time. And while Henry Cavill had Sony executives convinced, it now appears Aaron Taylor-Johnson is ultimately the one to land the role.
According to information from Puck News, Aaron Taylor-Johnson would make it to the final stage to be the new James Bond, convincing Sony executives Barbara Broccoli, who currently owns the rights to Ian Fleming’s characters. The actor, who will soon appear in ‘Kraven the Hunter’, has met the studio’s expectations for the role.
The outlet claims that “the the Aaron Taylor-Johnson rumors are true”, and that he would meet with Broccoli, which resulted in a very productive meeting, according to the sources. The protagonist of ‘Scott Pilgrim vs the World’ and ‘Bullet Train’ would have finally convinced those responsible, given his age, which is 32 years old, enough to wear spy boots for the next 10 years.
presumably, Sony would have chosen Aaron Taylor-Johnson since last December, but to date they have not officially made the announcement. Some of the names that would be left on the road would be Idris Elba, Henry Cavill, Tom Hardy and the star of the Netflix series, ‘Emily in Paris’, Lucien Laviscount who was a favorite on the list.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the new James Bond
A few months ago, The Sun reported some rumors that Aaron Taylor-Johnson would be the new James Bond, but there hasn’t been any more information since then. Now, Puck News reveals more details on his signing: “Taylor-Johnson is up to it, great actor, British, working in the younger direction the Broccoli want to pursue, accomplished but not particularly famous.”
She adds, “She’s on her way to becoming a much bigger star. If Sony’s Spider-Man spin-off Kraven the Hunter or Universal’s Ryan Gosling’s ‘The Fall Guy’ pans out, Taylor-Johnson could ironically become too famous to play Bond.” So there’s still time to make that final decision.
It seems that we will have to wait a few more months, perhaps until March or April, as hinted by some media, for Sony to finally be encouraged to confirm the new actor who will be responsible for bringing James Bond to life for the next 10 years on the big screen.
