Hugh Jackman jokingly asks the Academy not to ‘validate’ their ‘Deadpool 3’ star Ryan Reynolds in the Best Original Song category.

From 2023, Hugh Jackman asks the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for his dead pool Oscar-nominated costar Ryan Reynolds.

“Hello everyone. It’s 2023 and I really wanted to send a positive message at the beginning of the year, but recent events have made that impossible,” Jackman said in an Instagram video he shared.

“Don’t get me wrong, I loved Funny, it’s a great movie, we had a great time and the whole family saw it. i like will [Ferrell]I like Octavia [Spencer]. I clearly did The greatest showman with Benji [Pasek] and Justin [Paul], they are amazing and I loved their music. And by the way ‘Good Afternoon’, the song ‘Good Afternoon’? I was laughing the whole time, it’s absolutely brilliant. However, I have just heard that the Academy has put ‘Goeiemidd’ on the shortlist for best song.”

Jackman continued, “Well Ryan Reynolds, a Best Song nomination would make the next year of my life unbearable. It would, I mean, shoot with him for a year wolverine and dead pool. And believe me it will be impossible, it will be a problem. So to sum it up dear Funny and love Octavia, love the song “Good Afternoon”, love Benj and Justin. Please, please, from the bottom of my heart, don’t endorse Ryan Reynolds like that. You are welcome.”

“Good day” off Funny was recently shortlisted to earn an Academy nomination. The song was written by Pasek and Paul, with whom Jackman collaborated The greatest showman. Jackman clearly jokes that he doesn’t want the song to get a nod, and even if it did get one, Reynolds wouldn’t be nominated, but the writers would get the nomination.

Jackman’s most likely intention is to release the song to help his friends once the nominations begin. Moreover, the actor will be violating the AMPAS campaign rules if he tells voters not to vote for another film.

The Academy will announce the Oscar nominations on January 24.
