It is a multinational co-production, in which Tilda Swinton plays Jessica, a botanist living in Colombia, who is awakened one night by a sound from another world, and who wants to find out where she comes from.
Crimes of the future
Although you can now see this tape on Amazon Prime Video as well, “Crimes of the Future” is one of the best films in the MUBI catalog. Directed by master David Cronenberg and starring Viggo Mortensen, Léa Seydoux and Kristen Stewart, this sci-fi thriller is set in a future where human beings have begun to evolve at an accelerated pace and pain is an art form.

Winner in 2021 as best foreign film at the Oscars, we have ‘Drive My Car’, by Ryusuke Hamaguchi. For many, the film that should have won an Oscar at the time is about an actor who looks for a mechanic, and finds a girl he doesn’t trust very much at first, but who slowly builds a close relationship. Available on MUBI.
Storm
Under the direction of Tatiana Huezo, and beautiful cinematography by Ernesto Pardo, we have ‘Tempest’. A documentary that gave Huezo the first Ariel for a female director in her history. The plot follows two women who are victims of corruption and injustice in Mexico, who travel while telling their story as one girl who is imprisoned and the other as a worker in the circus.
We need to talk about Kevin
And for the last position, but not before saying that on MUBI you can also find great filmmakers like Lars von Trier with ‘Jack’s House’, or Yorgos Lanthimos with ‘Canino’, there is ‘We need to talk about Kevin’, a thriller directed by Lynne Ramsey. The story stars Ezra Miller and Tilda Swinton, who play a mother and her son, who commit a terrible crime.
