Henry Cavill reportedly snatched James Bond role from ‘Emily in Paris’ star – AFP
Now that Henry Cavill plays for any film franchise, following his recent departure from ‘The Witcher’ and DC Comics as Superman, the actor has started hounding various rumors on the net. However, everything seems to indicate that the producers at Sony would have preferred Cavill to one of the biggest stars of “Emily in Paris”, who almost got the role.
According to information from FandomWire, Henry Cavill is the favorite to be the new James Bond, who after Daniel Craig’s farewell in ‘No Time to Die’, would have left the role vacant, and now Sony would have found the perfect replacement in the ‘Man of Steel’ actor. However, the producers of Sony have not yet made the final decision and have found a strong candidate.
Barbara Broccoli, producer of the franchise, would have her eye on her Lucien Laviscount, actor in ‘Emilia in Paris’ be the new James Bond. The actor would have a less popular appearance in the teen drama ‘Big Hill’ and make the leap to stardom with the Netflix series starring Lily Collins. According to Barbara, Lucien possesses all the essential attributes for the role.
An insider of the medium explained that “Lucien ticks all the boxes. He is a very talented actor, he is extremely good looking and in the last 18 months he has gained many new fans since he joined Emily In Paris. Bond bosses are already saying how you can see him in 007’s tuxedo, how smart he’s going to be and how suited to the role he’s going to play.”

Henry Cavill and Lucien Laviscount compete for the new 007
But even if Lucien Laviscount owns all of the “quality” for the role, it seems that the production company is not convinced, due to the actor’s career, for having participated in ‘Big Brother’, a reality show with celebrities. According to executives, those are “low-level stuff that doesn’t suit a Bond actor,” and that’s when Henry Cavill takes charge.
It is then that Henry Cavill’s career speaks for itself, since he has participated in major film franchises, such as the DC Extended Universe, or in “Mission Impossible” alongside Tom Cruise. Therefore, the actor’s trajectory from “The Witcher” carries more weight. However, nothing is decided but the final negotiations may now be in the final stage.
It should be remembered that Henry Cavill was about to take over from Daniel Craig, when Sony was looking for the new actor for James Bond in 2005. Therefore, he may have even greater consideration for the producers. Each has its long list of attributes that put it above its rival, but only Sony will have the final say.
