Hugh Grant says he’s “married to James Bond” in The Knives Out sequel

The cat is out of the bag and knife out Fans got a glimpse into the secret life of Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc at Rian Johnson’s Glass Onion: A Mystery of Blades.

In the sequel, viewers can get a glimpse of Blanc’s family life and Hugh Grant appears as Philip, the detective’s husband.

“It’s true, I’m married to James Bond,” Grant said in an interview with Collider. “It’s the smallest moment. I don’t really know why they wanted to do that, but still, I thought knife out 1 was brilliant so yes i thought why not? I’ll be up for a few hours…”

Grant is obviously referring to Craig’s run as a British Intelligence James Bond character.

There was fan interest in a prequel detailing Blanc’s origins, but director Johnson fought hard to keep his films coherent, preferring to get creative by showing glimpses of the detective’s private life. Johnson recently lamented the addition of Netflix knife out in the title of the sequel.

“I did my best to make them independent. Honestly, I am outraged that we have this A Knives Out Mystery in the title,” Johnson said in an interview with The Atlantic. “I just want it to be mentioned glass onion.”

Johnson continued, “I understand, and I want anyone who enjoyed the first film, to know that this is the next in the series, but what also appeals to me is that there’s always a new novel in the series. But there is a thousand suns of attraction to serials.”

Glass Onion: A Mystery of Blades is now available to stream for Netflix subscribers.
