The time for best-of-the-year lists is over, to take stock of what we liked best (and least) and realize all the things we didn’t have time to see. But the wheel doesn’t stop and with the new year obviously comes a new batch (*wink*) of releases. Fortunately, The month of January isn’t very busy in terms of content from streaming platforms, but that doesn’t mean we won’t have essential previews.
Most Anticipated arrives on HBO Max on January 16 and is about ‘The Last of Us’, the series adaptation of the popular video game, starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as Joel and Ellie. It is the strongest bet of the Warner Bros. platform, which instead this month finally launches the films ‘In a neighborhood of New York’ and ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’.
Netflix prepares us a cocktail of returns and new releases which includes the second season of ‘Vikings: Valhalla’, the third and last of ‘Sky Rojo’, the premiere of ‘That ’70s Show’, a spin-off sequel to ‘That ’70s Show’the adaptation of ‘The Snow Girl’ by Javier Castillo; and the film The Academy Murders, with Christian Bale.
At Disney+ we return to ‘Star Wars’ with the second season of ‘La Remesa Bad’ and to the surreal universe of Donald Glover with the latest of ‘Atlanta’, as well as enjoying the perverse ‘The Menu’, which arrives in streaming after his recent passage through the rooms. Secondly, Prime Video premieres, after a long wait, the second and final season of ‘Hunters’ with Al Pacino and Logan Lerman, and the commitment to recent cinema with ‘Dopo. Infinite Love’, ‘The Orphan: First Murder’ and ‘On the Margins’, among others.
Finally, Movistar Plus+ is the platform to visit if what we want is to see the latest cinematic releases, with “Jurassic World: Dominion”, “Hair” and “Three thousand years await you”, while Apple TV+ we need the fourth and final season of a jewel that deserves more attention: ‘Servant’.
