What is Parker Finn’s “Smile” about?
The story of “Smile” is directed by Parker Finn, who was inspired by his short film called “Laura Hasn’t Slept”. The story follows Dr. Rosse Cotter, who has a session with a patient, which ends in an accident and a traumatic event for the protagonist. After that day terrifying events start happening that cannot be explained.
It seems that the girl who was his patient has been struck by a terrible curse, which, little by little, begins to take over her life, and to influence her constantly wherever she goes. To find a solution, the doctor must face her past, try to escape and break free from the curse, but this could have terrible consequences in her life.
Budgeted at just $17 million, the box office gross was over $210 million worldwide, making it a film that revived the horror genre and, incidentally, started what could be one of the most relevant horror franchises for the next few years.
