Russia puts Christo Grozev, journalist in the documentary “Navalny”, on the “Wanted” list

Christo Grozev, the investigative journalist of the Navalny Documentary, was placed on Russia’s most wanted list.

According to the Russian Interior Ministry website via CNN, Grozev is “wanted under an article of the Criminal Code” without citing the article.

Grozev took to Twitter and said: “I have no idea why the Kremlin put me on their ‘wanted list’ so I can’t comment at the moment. In a way it doesn’t matter – they have have made it clear for years that they fear our work and will do anything to make it disappear.”

Grozev covered Russian international crimes, including the 2020 poisoning of Alexey Navalny. The latter is the focus of the documentary Navalny by Daniel Roher, where Grozev can be seen. Grozev recently spoke with Deadline Contenders Documentary about the film, specifically a scene in which Navalny posed as a Russian official.

My god, this guy is giving us way more data than we even had before the phone call started. Somewhere in the middle of the phone call, I started feeling sorry for him, and I’m sorry,” Grozev said. “I think what have we done with this killer or one of the killers? And by the end, I was a little bit exhausted and I was like, ‘Okay, I’ve peaked. I will never see anything so good in my life. So what am I supposed to do for the rest of my life?’”

Navalny also recently made the Oscar shortlist for documentary films.
