Kyle Sandilands won’t pull any punches in Channel Seven’s upcoming Australian Idol reboot if anything is going on with a new trailer.
The recently released promo features the 51-year-old shock jock delivering some harsh truths to various underdog hopefuls as fellow judges Amy Shark, Harry Connick Jr. and Megan Trainor experienced a shock.
“No, you’re crazy. It’s a bunch of crazy people,” Kyle bluntly said of a contestant who put on a cheating performance.

He then reacts violently to another contestant who tells him that they have never sung in front of an audience.
“Yeah, it’s obvious,” Kyle replied.
However, Kyle was impressed by an artist who delivered Split Enz’s Message to My Girl from the heart.

“You have the potential to do everything. I loved it,” he told her.
Earlier this year, the outspoken star promised viewers they wouldn’t see Kyle politically correct when he returns to screens as a judge on the upcoming Australian Idol reboot.
“Oh my god, are you kidding me?” He told Daily Mail Australia when asked if he had allowed his famously unfiltered personality on the family-friendly show to be overshadowed by vigilante culture.
“No, you’re crazy. It’s a bunch of crazy people,” Kyle bluntly said of a contestant who put on a cheating performance.
“I even asked Channel Seven when they called me into the boardroom and said, ‘We want you back.’ And I said, ‘Listen. I won’t be able to be one of those judges of light and love.’
“I am very down to earth. Not evil, but I won’t pretend they’re great. I said, ‘If they suck, they’re told they suck. Or they were deceived. Or they have to work on it.
“I said I’d be as nice as I could, but I wasn’t going to be like a voice coach. It’s going to be like the harsh reality of the commercial side of the business.”
He then answers another contestant who tells him they have never sung in front of a crowd. “Yeah, it’s obvious,” Kyle replied
Kyle added that his role on the jury was to “cut through the trash.”
Channel Seven first announced plans for an Australian Idol reboot in 2020.
At the time, the network had slated the show for a 2022 release, but it will now continue into 2023.
The reboot is Kyle’s second appearance on the show, having worked on the original series from 2005-2009.
