Kevin Smith Announces Upcoming Five Films Including MOOSE JAWS, JAY AND SILENT BOB 4 & TWILIGHT OF THE MALLRATS

Writer and director Kevin Smith he will be keeping very busy with several new films that he is currently developing. During a recent appearance at GalaxyCon, Smith shared that he has his next five films lined up, and they’re all set at various studios.

Smith has revealed that his next two films will be the highly anticipated Twilight of the Mallrats and The 4:30 movie, which is a film inspired by his life. We don’t know which of these films will be released first. The director is also developing his much-discussed horror film Moose jawsa quarter Jay and Silent Bob movie and a sequel to Tusk.

He shared some insight into how these projects came to be and are on their way saying:

“[Moose Jaws] It’s a film I’ve been threatening to make for a long time, but thanks to the good folks at Lionsgate it’s going to happen. The reason Clerks III was made was that Lionsgate had a Jay & Silent Bob Reboot home video. They didn’t have cinemas, that was Saban and overseas it was Universal, but Lionsgate had home video. Which, to me, is streaming, but Lionsgate still makes DVDs, Blu-rays and SteelBooks, physical media. So, four months after the physical release of Jay & Silent Bob Reboot, we got a call from the people at Lionsgate and they said, “We’ve sold so many copies of Jay & Silent Bob Reboot on DVD and Blu-ray that If you’ve got any more of this Jay and Silent Bob crap left and you can make it for less than eight million dollars, we’re totally going to do it. And I was like, ‘I’m full of nothing but Jay and Silent Bob crap!'”

He then went on to talk about how Moose jaws got the green light and that Lionsgate wants to make four. He continued:

“And so they said to me, ‘Well, like what?’ And I said, ‘I have this movie that Clerks III is in,’ they said, ‘Okay, what else?’ ‘I got this movie called Moose Jaws’ and they asked me ‘What is Moose Jaws?’ And I was like, ‘Moose Jaws is like Jaws but with a moose instead of a shark.’ And they said, ‘What’s the budget for this?’ I was like, ‘About three million dollars,’ they were like, ‘We’re going to make four.’ So it looks like Moose Jaws is finally going to happen.”

So, Smith will be keeping himself pretty busy over the next few years making these films, which is pretty cool! What I’m most excited to see is Moose jaws. That movie looks like an insanely funny moment!
