The nation has seen how King Charles III he delivered his first Christmas address as king, following the tradition of the British monarch delivering a Christmas broadcast. He was quick to point out that this was the first festive season since the death of his mother, the Queen, in September at the age of 96. Charles chose to film the pre-recorded speech at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle where Queen Elizabeth Y prince philip they are buried. It is also where the Queen’s Surrender Service took place in September.
“I am here in this exquisite St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, so close to where my beloved mother, the late Queen, is buried with my dear father,” began the 74-year-old King. “I remember the deeply moving letters, cards and messages so many of you sent to my wife and I and I cannot thank you enough for the love and sympathy you have shown our entire family.”
“Christmas is a particularly moving time for all of us who have lost loved ones.”

He continued: “Christmas is a particularly moving time for all of us who have lost loved ones. We miss them at every turn of the family season and remember them in every beloved tradition.”
“In the beloved Christmas carol ‘Oh Little Town of Bethlehem,’ we sing like ‘In your dark streets eternal light shines.’ My mother’s faith in the power of that light was an essential part of her faith in God, but also her faith in people, and it’s something I wholeheartedly share. It is to believe in the extraordinary ability of each person to touch, with kindness and compassion, the lives of others and illuminate the world around them. This is the essence of our community and the very foundation of our society,” said the former Prince of Wales, praising the military, emergency workers, health workers and public service professionals such as teachers.
“I would especially like to honor all those wonderfully kind people who so generously give food or donations, or the most precious commodity of all, their time, to support those around them in most need, along with the many charities that do . working overtime under the most difficult circumstances,” she said. “Our Churches, Synagogues, Mosques, Temples and Gurdwaras have come together once again to feed the hungry, offering love and support throughout the year. This sincere solidarity is the most inspiring expression of loving your neighbor as yourself. The Prince and Princess of Wales recently visited Wales, shedding light on practical examples of this community spirit.”
The first Christmas speech was given by King George V in 1932 and Queen Elizabeth appeared in the first telecast in 1957 and every year since. In agreement with People, the pressure was on King Charles this year to “get it right.” “In this first year you will feel the pressure to do well. Every nuance will be chosen,” a former palace official told the agency. They added: “[The Queen] it was a one-hit wonder: it was extraordinary.
