Director Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead, don’t breathe) has been working hard to develop a new Alien film and is practically ready to start filming! According to ProductionList, the shooting of the film will start in Budapest, Hungary on February 6, 2023, and the working title of the film is Alien: Romulus.
There are no story details to share yet, but the film is said to tell a standalone story that isn’t “connected” to the previous films. So while the film will be set in the same universe as Alien and aliens, will be set in another corner of the universe. Alvarez’s presentation is said to be a “really good story with a bunch of characters you’ve never seen before.”
This seems like the way forward for the Alien franchise at this point. This will basically attempt to reboot the film franchise, and I hope Alvarez gets to make a good Alien movie that fans will enjoy.
Ridley Scott is also attached to the project and is producing through his production company Scott Free. The film is intended for acting Cailee Spaeny. Let’s see what happens with this!
