The new Ukrainian adventure series Adventures of Cossack Vyhovsky will premiere on television channel 2+2 on August 31 at 20:20 and will stream simultaneously on Netflix for viewers in Ukraine.
Subscribers to Netflix in Ukraine will be able to watch new episodes on the streaming platform on the same day they air on television.
Serhiy Kyzyma, the general producer of channel 2+2, said it was extremely important to make Ukrainian stories accessible to as wide an audience as possible. He described bringing the channel's new series to Netflix as another step towards popularising modern Ukrainian content.
Kyzyma thanked viewers for trusting the channel over the years and helping 2+2 remain among the leaders of Ukrainian television. He said viewer support allowed the channel to create new projects, invest in production, and tell stories that combine entertainment with meaningful themes.
He added that Adventures of Cossack Vyhovsky serves as a reminder of the value of freedom and responsibility, expressing confidence that the adventure story would find its audience on both television and streaming platforms.
Series plot and historical setting
Set in the first half of the 17th century, the series focuses on the early life of Ivan Vyhovsky. The main character is a young diplomat accustomed to intrigue, social balls, and backroom politics in Warsaw.
After failing a mission, Vyhovsky is forced to accept a high-risk assignment to avoid execution. Under orders from the Hetman, he travels to a homestead near Baturyn to build a guard post and resistance stronghold against a potential attack by northern neighbours.
Amid the surrounding chaos, Vyhovsky must rely on trickery to motivate local residents who refuse to believe that an enemy invasion is possible. The story follows his journey through dangerous adventures, political intrigue, and betrayal. The creators noted that the series is a creative interpretation of events rather than a historical reconstruction.
