The creators of the series embellished and complicated this story.
In the “Magnificent Century”, Alexandra Anastasia Lisowska, in order to save her sons from the intrigues of enemies, decided to strengthen the position of her faithful servant Rustem. She thought of no other way than to give him her only daughter Mihrimah.
The series showed how the beloved daughter of the padishah, despite Bali Bey, initially agreed to this marriage, but then deeply regretted it. Mihrimah called her marriage a funeral, and later complained about her own fate – to live with an unloved man. The serial sultana hated her husband so much that she did not pass up the opportunity to kill him when she learned of the betrayal
As in the series, there was a big age difference between Rustem and Mihrimah – 29 years. However, she did not stop them from loving each other. According to historical information, Suleiman’s daughter sincerely loved her husband.
Along with Rustem, Mihrimah was involved in charity work. In 1561, the vizier died due to a long illness. After her husband’s death, Mihrimah was still young, but she refused to remarry.
