Tony Awards producers warn potential slap – you will be removed

The Tony Awards producers have a strong message for potential copies of Will Smith: don’t even think about it.

The letter (and deadline received) sent by prospective Tony Award Productions to prospective ticket buyers contains the following disclaimer in the FAQ section: “The Tony Award has a strict non-violence policy. In the event of an accident, the culprit will be immediately removed from the event “.

The “No Violence Policy” included some more standard rules: only black tie, proof of Covid vaccination required, undelivered tickets, no American Express, etc.

The new warning, of course, reminds us of the Oscars that aired on March 27, when Will Smith, who was protesting a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s hairstyle, slapped host Chris Rock. Oscar producers allowed Smith to remain in the audience and receive the Best Actor award after a violent accident.

The Tony Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday 12 June at Radio City Music Hall, live on CBS and Paramount +.
