“I heard the car beep because it beeps when you unlock it, but I thought it was just someone picking up a mate,” he added.

The couple called police and officers found the suspected stolen car before arresting Booth at a nearby apartment on Morehead Street.

Police will allege that Booth still had the car keys and wallet.
The car was impounded for forensics while Booth was taken to Mascot Police Station where he was charged.
He was refused bail before appearing in the Central Local Court on December 21.
