Identical twins were supposed to work with MAFS this year, but the producers shelved the idea at the eleventh hour and chose just one sister instead.
Nutritionist Kate Laidlaw was unsuccessfully paired with her “husband” Matt Ridley on the show Nine, but her twin sister Bec would also be walking down the aisle.
While 38-year-old Bec was dying to participate in the social experiment, the idea was abandoned at the last moment with no explanation.
Twist: Identical twins were supposed to marry MAFS this year, but the producers shelved the idea at the eleventh hour and chose just one sister instead. Kate Laidlaw (left) was paired with Matt Ridley (right) on the show, but her twin sister Bec also had to walk down the aisle.
“The producers approached me and said ‘why not?’ I thought. I guess so,” Bec, 38, told Daily Mail Australia on Thursday.
Both sisters had gone through various stages of the interview process and were supposed to appear on the show together.
However, the producers cut off all communication with Bec after her medical test.

Ghosted: Both sisters went through different stages of the interview process and were supposed to appear on the show together, but the producers cut off all contact with Bec after her medical test.
“They never called me again. At least Kate got in. Probably for the best!” she she laughed.
Kate is introduced on the show as an intruder and is paired with lawyer Matt. Bec briefly appeared as her sister’s bridesmaid.
The identical twins were previously spotted at MAFS in 2017, a year before the show really hit the charts.

Michelle and Sharon Marsh “marry” to Jesse Konstantinoff and Nick Furphy, respectively.
In 2018, Sharon said that matchmakers need to make better decisions when matching rivals living in different states.
Channel Nine took advantage of the twins’ tricks in advertisements and billboards and dressed the sisters in matching wedding dresses and accessories.
