What is ocular melanoma?
Eye melanoma is a rare malignant tumor that can develop from cells called melanocytes in the uvea, the middle tissue layer in the wall of the eyeball.
Tumors can often be found during a routine eye exam, but symptoms may also include flashing lights, blurred vision, or a shadow in one eye.
To diagnose uveal melanoma, patients may undergo vision testing and pupil dilation, imaging of the lesion, and ultrasound of the eye.
If left untreated, melanoma can spread to other parts of the body, especially the liver, and can be fatal.
Treatment options typically include surgery, radiation, photocoagulation, and heat therapy.
Helen also shared a tribute to her stepson on Instagram and posted a picture of Rio with the caption “El Rio”.
Rio’s brother Alex announced on Monday that his brother had died, and the actor’s family shared some tributes from his colleague.
Vince Vaughn said, “As fair and fun as anyone can be. Rio was the best ever. Truly one of a kind.
Renee Zellweger added: “Rio… a titan of kindness, love, class and courage. This is good. A legend.’
And Queens of the Stone Age rocker Josh Homme said, “Rio just knew stuff. Esoteric stuff. Off-map stuff. Hidden stuff. Nice stuff.
“He knew these things for his charm, humor, honesty, temper, and tough personality. He was a real man in a sea of poses.’
Screenwriter DV DeVincentis took to Instagram to pay a long homage to the “Treme” star.
He said of his friend: ‘Life is experience. Time and sensation fold, fit together. Rio had more experience than anyone I’ve ever met.
“He stopped what was happening to expose him, forcing you to pay attention. He would treat you to an unmissable experience of a much-loved menu and would grab your attention by paying attention to what comes out of your mouth. ‘Yes Kid? I mean… isn’t it?”
“He would put an experience in your sweat, then start over and play back to you because this is the first time we’ve talked about it and we’re like, ‘Man, you really have to hear it.’

Not only was he obsessed with movies and how they mirror each other and how engaging they were, but more: he was a super fan of countless scenes, certain gestures by unknown actors, strange career turns, roaring arrivals, swan songs in the cinema – all real experiences for you, if you see it consciously. .
“During phone calls from one cell phone to the next, it kept track of where you were and let you know what the closest food or bar was, a gourmet GPS was always buzzing for you. And those long, long phone calls went by so quickly that his ability to speak briefly was as paradoxical as Gary Cooper’s laconic demeanor. Valuable experience is not everywhere.
“But Rio knew you best at every moment, and holding those precious opportunities for you was his fluent love language. Rio was the best curator of the experience, it was his oxygen, his life.’
Rio was the eldest son of director Taylor Hackford and his first wife, Georgie Lowres, who was married from 1967 to 1972.
He began his acting career as an unnamed “street junkie” in the 1990 classic Pretty Woman.
She also had roles in Blood In, Blood Out, Exit to Eden, Double Dragon, Safe and Strange Days before releasing Skully in the 1996 indie classic Swingers.
