Daniel Craig has appeared in the guise of 007 in five feature films and is well established in the image. However, the cult role could not have gone to him at all.
In a recent interview, Henry Cavill, now appearing on the TV series The Witcher, said he was literally one step away from landing a lucrative contract. The final choice was between him and Craig. But unfortunately for Cavill, the producers preferred an older actor.
“They said I was close. They told me it all came down to me in the end and Daniel and I were the younger version. Obviously they chose Daniel and I think it was a great decision. I was on that most likely not ready yet,” the actor told journalist Josh Horowitz.
