The proclamation of Carlos III as the new King of England arrives today at 11 a.m. Spanish time, the coronation will take place in the coming months, although the exact date is still unknown. Yesterday, the hitherto Prince of Wales appeared clothed in deep mourning, and we were able to hear the new king’s maiden speech after the death of his mother. The heir apparent made it clear that he will serve the English with “loyalty, respect and love”, aiming to “honor the memory of my mother”. All morning, Carlos’ proclamation as king will take place, which: make Camilla queen mate.
The ceremony has about 200 in attendance, including former Prime Ministers Boris Johnson, Theresa May, Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.
Elizabeth II’s son attended along with his wife, Camilla Parker-Bowles, and his son William, now Duke of Cambridge and Cornwall, as well as Prince of Wales.
Carlos III took the oath and then signs his speech. It must be remembered that it is the first time that we can see this historic act on television.
“I know how you and the entire nation sympathize with me for the irreparable loss we all suffer. For me it is a great comfort to know the condolences you have expressed (…) My mother was an example of a life of social service. My mother’s reign was unparalleled in duration, dedication and emotion (…) I am fully aware of this great heritage and the duties and responsibilities of the throne entrusted to me (…) I know that I will have the effect and loyalty of the citizens of whom I will be sovereign”.
This is the first time in history that it has been televised and millions of people are glued to their screens.
The law followed protocol to the letter. Austerity marked Charles III’s maiden speech as King of England, it looks like he’s going to follow in his mother’s footsteps when it comes to organizing official acts and events.
“I am proud to make him Prince of Wales today, the country whose title I have had the pleasure of carrying for much of my life and duty. With Catherine by his side, our new Prince and Princess of Wales will continue to inspire, lead the national conversation and helping to provide essential aid so that the marginalized can advance to central positions,” explains Carlos III.
Camilla, who never wanted to use the title of Princess of Wales as a mark of respect for the late Lady Di, will today become Queen Consort of England.
King Charles III and his wife, Camilla Parker-Bowles, appeared yesterday after the death of Queen Elizabeth II. The heir to the throne was surprised to approach the English citizens, greeting them lavishly and thanking them for receiving condolences. England’s new kings toured the exterior of Buckingham Palace, taking in the thousands flower bouquets and initiations which the citizens had laid down in honor of the monarch.
