She will play one of the most famous women in the world in front of millions of audiences, but young actress Meg Bellamy has already shown that she can entertain the royal family.
The 19-year-old actress, who has no professional screen experience, came to the fore when it was announced last week that she will play the young Kate Middleton in the final season of The Crown.
But The Mail on Sunday may reveal that the former head nurse was an acting student for the Queen’s cousin, the Duke of Kent, in 2018.
Bellamy, known locally as Meg Smith in Berkshire, performed a medley from the Hamilton musical at a gala concert organized by Wellington College Public School to celebrate the opening of the performing arts centre.
Meg Bellamy attended Wellington College on September 21, 2018, at Hamilton’s St. Crispin performs.
Seven local schools attended dance, drama and music recitals for 900 guests in the center of Berkshire, the county where the Duchess grew up.
Bellamy sang a “Hamilton touch medley”, dressed as one of the Schuyler Sisters, a wealthy New York socialite, with schoolmates from St Crispin’s School in Wokingham, where he was the foreman.
Bellamy emerged from the darkness after presenting a self-recorded audition following a social media post.
The candidate star, who previously served as a character commentator in Legoland, revealed his excitement yesterday.
“Oh boy, this picture!” He wrote in an Instagram story. ‘Very exciting! I look forward to being a part of this wonderful, wonderful project and I am honored to be working with such a talented cast.”
He also posted a headline video of his main photo and said “Hi, I guess” to his followers.
Bellamy, who will rekindle Prince William and Kate Middleton’s flirtation with 23-year-old newbie Ed McVey, was supported yesterday by her boyfriend, director, and real-life acrobat Connor Dutton.
Dutton, 25, who also works for Legoland, wrote: “I am delighted to share with you that my extraordinarily talented friend, Kate Middleton, will be starring in Netflix’s The Crown Series 6. I’m proud of you baby.
Bellamy replied: “I LOVE YOU SO MUCH”.
McVey and Bellamy will star alongside 16-year-old Rufus Kampa in the show’s final series, which begins filming this fall. Season 6 will chronicle the queen’s reign in the early 2000s and the aftermath of Diana’s death.
