The Marvel Film Company has proven to be one of the worst employers in the film industry. Despite the fact that the studio’s films often land a solid box office, the employees don’t always get a decent salary.
Special effects artists have described working 64 hours a week, seven days a week, six months or even longer. At the same time, wage levels often do not match the conditions in which people have to work.
It’s not just that the studio doesn’t pay for the work of specialists on merit. Many complain about the huge number of operations that urgently need to be performed. The directors are not helping the special effects artists in any way. As a result, they have to intuitively guess which effects and where to apply them. At Marvel, sometimes they just don’t know what they want.
“The cooperation with such a customer is clearly overestimated. Marvel requires regular changes, far more than any other customer,” an insider shared with Vulture.
