The New York Film Critics Circle will host the annual awards gala on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at TAO Downtown. Jordan Hoffman will chair NYFCC in 2022 and Stephen Garrett will remain the group’s chief executive.
“People plan and God laughs, as the old saying goes, but I’m confident our 2023 ceremony will take place both in person and in January, which it belongs to, for the first time since 2020,” said Hoffman. “I am also confident that we will honor a variety of innovative, enriching and inspiring films and shows. Each year, the organization gathers to vote for calendar year film awards, including the first major groups to reveal the winners. NYFCC elections often pave the way for awards season; at other times, your choice is proudly independent of other organizations. The group votes for the winners sometime in December, often near the National Board of Review, and this is a prime indicator of favorites for the award. However, they have not yet specified a voting date. The Group Awards Dinner in early January also marks the start of a new year of glamorous events in New York.
