Filmmakers hardly expected such a reaction.
Hollywood strikes again with its unpredictability. Last week, Thor 4: Love and Thunder was the box office leader, and today it crashes and is close to financial disaster.
Thor 4: Love and Thunder got off to a great start over its opening weekend. The film grossed over $300 million on its opening weekend on nearly the same budget. It seemed that the blockbuster had already paid for itself in the first week and so will continue to generate profits for the makers. But the second week was not so rosy.
Movies pay twice their budget. According to the portal Kinonews, the fourth part of “Thor” has just brought in $46 million in the past week. That’s less than analysts’ forecasts who promised the film more than 50 million in its second rental week. For example, rates fell by more than half in the second weekend. Over the past weekend, “Thor 4: Love and Thunder” earned 68% less than its first week of launch. Even though it may seem catastrophic, the numbers made the film the US box office leader.
