First Dates star Merlin Griffiths confirmed he’s returned to the hospital after suffering complications from bowel cancer following surgery earlier this year.

The Channel 4 celebrity announced last year that she had been diagnosed with the disease and doctors found she had a stage 3 tumor measuring 4.5 cm (1.8 inches) and was operated on in April to remove the growth. .

Taking to Instagram on Monday (June 27), Griffiths posted a selfie from his hospital bed and wrote: “Oh … Squibwibble. #Complications. #Nh. #BowelCancerAwareness.”

His fans flocked to the comments, with one writing: “I send you so much love, I hope you get well soon xx”.

Last year, doctors told the father of one of them that he had a 75 percent chance of living more than five years.

Merlin revealed his diagnosis in the Sunday Mirror last September, telling readers he was facing a year of treatment as he swore, “I won’t let him forget me.”

She also described the time she had to explain her diagnosis to her seven-year-old daughter, Alix: “I said, ‘Dad has cancer.’ He said, ‘Is that bad, Daddy?’

“I said to him, ‘Yes, he’s very serious, but I think he should be fine. Modern medicine is great and if anything changes I’ll let you know.

“She understands that people can die, but I told her that cancer comes in different varieties and also in different ways, and many people get over it.”

The TV bartender, who also owns a pub in Lancashire, began to feel pain in June of that year but thought it was due to a scar on his stomach from a car accident at the age of 20.

Griffiths said, “I thought, as most people do when they get a diagnosis, ‘Oh fuck, I have cancer.’ I also wanted to know, what are my chances of survival? It’s scary, of course I want to live.

“I shed a tear in private. But you can choose to “do” or “not do”. I choose to live my life normally, stick to the facts and continue to be one step ahead of the other. “
