I’m the one who helps them understand what they can do, what they can’t do, and I also remind them what judges are looking for. Scott: So the judges really have four interesting perspectives. You need to understand who you are talking to and what it is about. For Jemila, when she says she wants “cleanliness”, she just wants to see things in order. So if you have four people on the opposite side of the stage doing different things and moving around in different ways, it looks messy. Even if you do your choreography correctly, your movement just wants to be established and subdivided into an image. He’s a tight person, and if there’s too much to do or too many free styles, no matter how good they are, it doesn’t feel like a complete unit.

Some just walk on the catwalk, others just walk on the face … You have so many different categories. Just because you’re part of a ballroom doesn’t mean you can really act like a housewife. The part that makes this show so amazing is that it’s not comfortable. You have someone walking on Sex Siren, someone walking on Face and someone doing Vogue Fem all together, and they need to combine that image and make it all come true. Everyone has specific strengths and has been doing something for so long that it can be difficult for them to start doing something new.
