Amber Beckford’s family of Love Island, who was recently abandoned on the show, removed her Twitter and released a statement following a barrage of nasty troll tweets.
Love Island star Amber Beckford’s family and friends have deactivated her Twitter account following cruel troll posts.
During the episode on Tuesday (June 22), Amber, 24, was expelled from the village along with Ikenna Ekwonna, 23.
After her release, Amber’s family took to social media where she explained her decision to deactivate her Twitter account and explained that they needed to protect her sanity.

Amber’s sister Haylie, her friends Hannah and Taz, and the Beckford family have released a statement on behalf of the islander.
They wrote on social media: “Hi everyone, Amber’s stay at the villa is over. We have received wonderful comments and messages and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

“However, as most of you are probably aware of some despicable tweets, posts and messages written about Amber. As Amber’s family and friends, this was extremely difficult to watch and disgusting at times.
“We didn’t want to have to release something like that, but remember that bullying someone during an hour-long episode of a TV show is harmful.
“Bullying and negative comments can be extremely damaging to a person’s mental health and can sometimes be fatal in the worst case scenario.
“We will not tolerate bullying and harassment.”

“For this reason, we have sadly decided to disable Amber’s Twitter before she arrives home to protect her mental well-being,” they continued.
“This is a decision made by Amber’s close friends and family, as it was extremely difficult for her family and friends to watch, and we still want this to be an exciting time for Amber; not a negative.
“We want to thank everyone again for some love and those who supported Amber on her journey.

They concluded: “We wish Amber’s new friends in the village good luck and will continue to support them, don’t forget to be nice to them too; we are only human. If you have nothing nice to say, keep it to yourself.
Since leaving the mansion in Tuesday’s episode, Amber has said, “I have no regrets, I’m definitely proud, I’ve been true to myself.”
Love Island airs tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
