This Morning’s Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby opened a Blue Peter time capsule that was buried more than four decades ago, but were far from happy with the content.
This Morning host Holly Willoughby was not impressed with the contents of a Blue Peter time capsule from over 40 years ago.
Holly and her co-host Phillip Schofield opened the box, which was buried on the BBC show in 1981, earlier this week.
The pair had enthusiastically discussed what was inside the capsule while talking to Blue legend Peter Sarah Greene.
However, they were very disappointed and Holly said, “Did one of Blue Peter’s dogs put anything in there?”
The trio expected to find clips and a script from the previous show, but instead they found a muddy brown mess.

The box was opened by a specialist when Holly said, “Go ahead, let’s see what happens. I feel like the metal is flying away and a spider comes out.”
The presenters then started laughing after realizing what was in the time capsule.
Sarah tried to cover the content and said, “I don’t think you need to see.”

Holly covered her nose and mouth with her hand against the smell as Phil walked in to take a closer look.
Later in the show, it was revealed what happened to the box.
The metal coating had corroded and attacked the contents, but they managed to recover wrappers of chips and candy from the day he was buried.

There was also a disc of a recording of Blue Peter’s original melody, but it’s unlikely to be playable.
Fans were also disappointed to see the inside of the box.
One person tweeted: “Screaming at the reveal of the Blue Peter Time Capsule this morning.”
Another said: “Why throw it all away? You would definitely vacuum-pack the items to keep the air from destroying everything.
One viewer wrote: “I think Sarah Greene really thought someone had dumped the box. I thought Blue Peter would be smart enough to have used a waterproof box and / or packaging.”
Another fan said, “Crikey, this makes me feel old. I remember seeing when they buried that time capsule. I bet they thought it would be around for over 41 years!
This morning airs Monday through Friday at 10am on ITV
