Showranner Lauren Lafrink in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter admitted that the second season has not yet been discussed. Moreover, if there is a continuation, only after the release of the film “Batman. Part 2”, which is planned for October 2027.
“We never had the task of doing the second season at the same time,” says Lafret. “First of all, we wanted to bring Oswald to the events of the second film. Which means that the new season is simply impossible to release earlier than the image of Matt Reeves.”
According to her, the Batman 2 script is already coming, and it will depend on him whether the penguin will appear in the future.
“Colin and I are sure: if there is a sequel, it should be better than the first season. Otherwise it makes no sense,” Lafretka added.
Farrell himself also hinted more than once that the fate of the project is questioning. After the final of the first season, the actor immediately said: “This is not impossible, but it will be much harder to continue the story.”
How “Penguin” is related to films
The series was originally conceived as a bridge between Batman (2022) and his sequel. The first season ended that Oswald finally anchored in the role of criminal boss Gotham. And it is from this position that he will enter the second part of the story about Batman.
Spectators can therefore be sure of one thing: Cobb Oswald will certainly return in 2027, but already on the big screen. But the second season of Penguin remains only a theoretical opportunity and there is no specificity yet.
