We explain the end “Gangsterland” with spoilers: who died and who survived

As in any gangster history, there were more than enough corpses in the final.

The final of the first season, “Gangstereland” has become a full detachment for the whole story: the war between Harrigans and Stevenses ended, several heroes died and a new chapter appeared in the criminal family. But the last scene mainly caught the spectators: Harry da Souza (Tom Hardy) receives a knife from his own wife. His mysterious smile at that time gave rise to the main question – he died or he survived?

What happened to Harry?

Jan (Joanne Froggatt) puts a kitchen knife in him during a fight with her husband. Harry does not fall, does not shout from pain – he just laughs. The makers opened the last open and the audience itself decided what this means: death or hint of continuation. Given the popularity of the series, many are sure that the hero of Hardy will still return.

Before that, Harry almost succeeds in ending the war with the Stevens to almost alone. He exposes the traitor in the family – a lawyer O’hara, arranges a fall of enemies and kills Richie Stevenson personally. But on the horizon he has a new opponent: American Kat Macallister (Janet Mactir), which he refused in the Union.

In the Harrigan family

  • Kevin Harrigan (Paddie Considine) explains itself as a new head of the family and requires faithfulness of Bella’s wife.
  • Bella (Laura Pulver) exposes his father politician and shows that she can act alone.
  • Serafin (Mandip Dillon) is becoming more influential, although Maev can’t stand it.
  • Eddie (Anson Bun) finds out that he is not the son of Kevin, but the son of Conrad and Bella. He has a mania of greatness, and now he seriously regards himself as a future leader.

What is the next step with Konrad and MEV

Konrad (Pierce Brosnan) leaves the prison when the truth about the setup becomes known. But Kevin makes it clear: now he has power. Conrad is clearly not the person who goes aside.

Mave (Helen Mirren) remains behind bars, although it was she who made the family ahead all season and made the strict decisions. Her hatred and desire to get control back will probably play a role in the future.

A special place is taken by a sales layer of Tatersoll (Toby Jones). He was too deep in crime and opted for the wrong side, to support the Stevensons. The story is clearly not over – in the second season (on which Gangstereland has already been expanded) he can become a new main enemy.
