In the original manga and anime, Vivi is depicted as an Egyptian with an honest mang. Chandran has a dark skin color, and for many viewers this was the reason to blame Netflix for ignoring the visual image of the character. Criticism not only went from anonymous trolls – long -standing fans of the franchise also participated in the discussion, which claim that their indignation was not related to racism.

Others add that there are many cultural references in “one piece”, and the actors must agree with them:
