While some studios are stretching their heads about how they can breathe new life into the dying franchises, others just return to the proven Cashdesk -Hits.

This time the choice fell on the “Night in the Museum”: according to Deadline, the development is full – scale, for which the 21 Raps studio will be taken – the same that the original trilogy has produced. The script writes Tripper Clansy (“Strong Hart. Film”), and personally produces Sean Levy, a director of all three previous films.

The most important thing at the same time: Ben will not be. His hero, The Night Guard Larry Daily, does not return to the new version. The project was conceived as a complete restart – with new characters, a new history and, probably, a new museum.

The reason for the restart is banal – money. The original trilogy all over the world raised $ 1.35 billion:

  • Night in The Museum (2006) – $ 574 million
  • Battle of Smithsonian Institute (2009) – $ 413 million
  • The Secret of the Tomb (2014) – $ 363 million

The last part, released ten years after the original, was mainly reminded by the last screen roll of Robin Williams. His farewell scene in the image of Theodore Roosevelt, even those who had been tired of this franchise for a long time. All the other – a family drama, a hastily sewn plot around the end of the world, jokes with monkeys – looked like an attempt to reach the credits on the autopilot.

After that there was also an animated spider -off on Disney+, but he didn’t make much noise. Based on the description, the new film will try not to continue, but to restart everything.
