Season 27 of the “South Park” will have to wait longer: the release date has been postponed again

The new season of the South Park, which the public has been waiting for more than two years, is again delayed.

The Comedy Central Channel was planning to release the 27th season on July 9, but now the premiere was postponed until July 23. Instead of a new episode – only a new poster, where everything is as it should be: Stan, Kyle, Kartman, Kenny and Jesus in full power. But the season itself – so far in question.

Formally, the delay looks like a simple date change. In fact, behind the scenes there is a long -term conflict around the streaming rights on the show, involving millions, lawyers and the next series of business maneuvers.

The contract for the exclusive distribution of South Park on the HBO Max ended a week ago and the new agreement has not yet been signed. Most likely, instead of an exclusive, there will be a system of “all sisters in earrings” – it is possible that the series will be on different platforms at the same time.

However, this does not suit everyone. Paramount Global, which owns Comedy Central, has long declares that the South Park should be on their striming- Paramount+. In May, one of the general director of the company openly promised investors that the show would reach ‘Paramount+ in the US since July’. But instead of starting – silence, no official comment. Fans waited for the release on July 1, but the series never appeared.

What is the end? The new season will certainly be, but when exactly – it is no longer dependent on producers, but on lawyers and platform owners. In the meantime, it will only be waiting – in the best traditions of the “South Park”, where as a rule no less absurdity takes place behind the scenes than on the screen.
