Sites need traffic and loud headlines are traffic, explains the makers of Simpsons.
The last few weeks, argued social networks – Lee Marge Simpson died in the final of the 36th season of Simpsons. Some sites have already spread the news as a failed fact. But in reality everything turned out to be much more prosaic: margin lived and nobody started killing her in the series.
In the center of confusion is the episode “Estranger Things”, where the promotion is transferred to the future. Bart and Lisa try to enter into relationships, and at that moment Marge is watching them … From paradise. Yes, with wings, on a cloud and even next to Ringo Starr.

The audience literally took the scene and decided that the show “officially killed one of the main characters”. But according to the executive producer Matt Selman, this is not about death, but about the next “future version”, which the Simpsons already had dozens:
“It is clear that all episodes about the future are fantasies, and every time they are different. Mardge will probably never be dead again. It is only dead in one episode about a hypothetical future released six weeks ago.”
At the same time, Selman himself spoke sharply about how the story got out of hand:
“This is how I see this: sites need traffic, and loud headlines are traffic. And at the end of the article you can explain that the title is misleading. Everyone who published this knew that Marge did not died. They knew everyone, but still wrote.”
So there was no “shocking turn”. Only the next episode about a hypothetical future is no more canonic than a series in which Lisa marries a British and Homer moves to Japan.
The series is still being released. Now the Simpsons are extended to 40 season, that is, at least until 2029. The final of the 36th season was the 790th episode, so the path to the thousandth release of the inhabitants of Springfield is still long.
And margin lives. And apparently it will stay so long.
