We are talking about the “Wild, Wild West” – an expensive, loud and absolutely meaningless film, made on the basis of the old series. In fact, there was nothing left of the original, but the name, and Smith had to wear leather pants, joke about mechanical spiders and pretend that this is all ridiculous. Even he himself admits: it was a disaster.
“I just wanted the victory. I wanted to be the biggest star,” he said in an interview with GQ. “At that moment I am not promoting what I believed in, but what seemed profitable.”
The film was Warner Bros. Worth approximately $ 170 million – excluding marketing. It was one of the most expensive projects of the 90s. He was able to earn only 222 million all over the world that, according to Hollywood – standing – almost a failure, especially after such a promotion.
