Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, 70, will be charged with two counts of indecent assault on a woman in London, the Crown Prosecution Service announced.

According to the police organization, the alleged incident occurred in August 1996 and is currently under investigation.

PA, Rosemary Ainslie, director of the CPS’s Special Crimes Division, said: “The CPS authorized the Metropolitan Police to indict Harvey Weinstein of two counts of indecent assault on a woman in August 1996.

“Charges have been cleared against Harvey Weinstein, 70, following an examination of the evidence gathered by the metropolitan police in their investigation.

“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that the criminal case against the accused is active and that he is entitled to a fair trial.”

The father of five is currently serving a prison sentence in New York after being charged and arrested for rape in May 2018.

He was then convicted of two out of five crimes two years later, in February 2020, leading to the star being sentenced to 23 years behind bars.

Harvey began serving his long sentence at the Wenden Correctional Center and is now eligible for release.
