Joanna Lumley took part in the coverage of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations on Sky News and made sure the public understood her relationship with the royals Charles and Camilla.
Dame Joanna Lumley clarified her connection to the royal family after media speculation.
Joanna has often been referred to as Prince Charles and Camilla’s “close friend”, but she took the opportunity to set the record straight about their friendship.
He spoke to Metro.co.uk ahead of the Jubilee celebrations and clarified his relationship with the royal family.
Lumley said he thought people would be “foolish” to think of themselves as close friends of the royal family.
He explained: “I’m not a good friend. The thing is, this friendship thing is weird. I think a friend, friend, dear friend, is someone you can call in the middle of the night. I don’t know how to get in touch with Prince Charles, much less call him at any time “.

However, the former Absolutely Fabulous star said that he has known the couple in the past and that “they have always been extremely friendly”: “But I think you’re a fool if you say they’re close friends, because they’re not.”
Joanna is a huge fan of the royal family and has admitted that she has “loved the queen all her life”.
He even published a book called A Queen for all Seasons: A Celebration of our One and Only Queen Elizabeth II on her Platinum Jubilee.

However, she’s not a huge fan of Netflix’s true story adaptation and has talked about character dramatization.
He shared his take on The Crown saying, “I don’t watch it because I know it’s made up. They’re real people and suddenly they’re made up to be different people. I don’t think that’s right.”
Joanna was recently placed on the New Year’s list in recognition of her services to theater, entertainment and charity.

She also revealed that she feels “very privileged” to have been the third presenter of Sky News during the Jubilee celebrations.
Over the four-day holiday weekend, famous faces gathered to celebrate the queen’s 70th birthday, including Diana Ross, Rod Stewart and Ed Sheeran.
Lumley, who has great adoration for the monarch, described the first time he met the queen as a “tingling moment”.
