It seems that Elizabeth II received the most desired gift for the anniversary of her reign.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry finally arranged a meeting of the monarch with his little great-granddaughter at Buckingham Palace.
Exactly a year ago, the family of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had an addition – their daughter Lilibet Diana was born. The baby, who is the heiress of the British prince, was born in the United States.
However, the girl nevertheless celebrated her first birthday in her father’s homeland. Miraculously, this date turned out to fall on the celebration of the anniversary of the reign of Elizabeth II. So the “disgraced” Duke and Duchess had no chance of not going to London.
And although Lilibet-Diana is already a year old, Elizabeth II saw her great-granddaughter, who was named after her, quite recently. At the same time, the girl’s parents themselves have not yet announced that they introduced her to the great-grandmother with the title. Royal biographer Omid Scobie is sure, however, that the 96-year-old queen has managed to hold her grandson’s heiress in her arms.
“As far as I know, we shouldn’t expect anything. These moments between the Queen and Lilibet are very personal, and we can guess how much she was looking forward to them. The pandemic stopped them. It is known that the Queen returned to Windsor Castle yesterday and the couple returned to the cottage in Frogmore. So it was Queen Elizabeth II’s first chance to meet her namesake,” he told BBC Breakfast.
