Last night (June 6) the last series of Love Island officially began with the daughter of football star Michael Owen, Gemma Owen, who entered the Spanish villa.

Though the 42-year-old looked away from all the action on the ITV2 dating show as he left the UK for a trip to Germany.

The former England player flew by plane to commemorate Germany’s 2001 World Cup qualifier match against England in which he scored a hat-trick.

Although he called Gemma’s move to the Love Island mansion his “worst nightmare,” Michael said he has no doubt his daughter will make them all proud.

International dressage rider Gemma, 19, made her debut on the show on Monday night and viewers noted that it seemed incredibly difficult not to reveal who her famous father was.

After dating Liam Llewellyn, the couple were getting to know each other when the topic of soccer popped up.

Realizing her knowledge of the sport, Liam asked her if she had dated a footballer in the past and she replied “no” before changing the subject.

Although Gemma had problems with viewers who called her rude after making a comment on Luca Bish’s surname.

Michael may have managed to get away with seeing his daughter’s wild comments on Love Island, but his fans were quick to inform him of the antics.

He shared photos from outside the Munich Olympic Stadium with the caption: “Back to the crime scene 21 years later! Germany 1 – 5 England “.

There were some nostalgic fans who took the opportunity to comment on the historic match, however, it wasn’t long before people flooded Michael with messages about Gemma.

One person wrote, “Your daughter is great.”

Another commented: “Your daughter is fine.”

A third joked: “I would leave the country if my daughter were also on Love Island …”

Speaking of his daughter having entered the mansion in the past, Michael admitted he was “skeptical” about it.

He told ITV News: “I have no doubt it will make us all proud.

“It’s probably a parent’s worst nightmare, but whatever she wants to do, you have to support her.”

Michael revealed that the hardest part for Gemma about being on Love Island is being away from her family.

He continued: “It was different without her at home. I have other children and my wife and it was quite difficult because she had to turn off the phone and we had no contact for a few weeks so that was the hard part.

“I’ve heard a lot about it. I think grumpy old men like me will always have an opinion on it because you don’t see it and hear only bits and pieces, but she assures me it’s not as bad as me. ” to think.

“So we’ll take a look and hope you like it.”
