Love Island has spawned some truly spectacular romance over the years, but the day couples weren’t always as easy as some had hoped in choosing their potential boyfriend.
Love Island 2022 kicks off tonight (June 6) with a new twist on how the Islanders will find themselves in their original matches on day one.
The old formula has been the source of many success stories, but many failed love stories have also sprung from day one choices for competitors.
From the lack of sparks at Casa Amor that shattered their love stories, many of Villa’s love stories at first sight have fallen to the first hurdle.
took a look at some of the most iconic pairings from day one that failed to cross the finish line.
olivia and daniel
Olivia Buckland and Daniel Lukakis were paired on day one, but things didn’t go well for the couple as the two clashed and quickly parted ways in a reconciliation.
Daniel was expelled on the 15th, but Olivia had brief fights with Rykard Jenkins and Adam Maxted before Alex Bowen entered the village on the 20th and captured her heart.
Alex and Olivia left Villa as runners-up on day 45 and have been together ever since and are now married and expecting a baby together.

Kem Cetinay may have finally been crowned the winner in season three alongside Amber Davies, but his matchmaking from day one at Villa saw him paired with Chloe Crowhurst.
The big surprise came when it was revealed that Kem was, in fact, the best friend of Chloe’s ex-boyfriend.
The couple struggled to get along because on paper they weren’t the type of each other, so it didn’t take long for Kem to drift away from her true summer love, Amber.
Chloe then changed her affection for Chris Hughes when she rushed into the mansion like a bombshell, before eventually moving on to Olivia Attwood and forming the show’s biggest romance in her romance with Kem.

Anna Valkili and Sheriff Lanre seemed to get along well despite their concerns about the age difference when they met on their first day at the Village.
However, the romance was doomed from the start, and their differences already began to manifest when Sherif was blatantly kicked out of the village for breaking the rules after accidentally kicking fellow islander Molly. he was a “little boat of shit”.
Anna was then single for a while before being paired with Jordan Hames, then Ovie Soko, then Jordon again, before being kicked out of the Village.
Shaughna and Callum
Shaughna Phillips was overjoyed when she teamed up with Scaffolding Callum Jones and their relationship seemed to grow stronger and stronger as they stayed close through various reconciliations.
However, their romance went downhill when Callum went to Casa Amor with the boys and set his sights on model Molly Smith.
Shaughna remained loyal to her boyfriend from day one and was devastated when he returned to the mansion holding Molly’s hand, leaving her devastated and single until she was kicked off the island a few weeks later.
jake and freedom
Jake Cornish and Liberty Poole looked like the obvious winners of the 2021 series when they teamed up on day one of season seven.
However, as the summer progressed, cracks began to manifest in the relationship and Liberty became more and more uncertain as to which direction things were going.

Shannon found herself spending only 48 hours in the village before being brutally dumped and kicking off the show, having only spent a few minutes on screen for viewers and leaving Aaron single and ready to team up with Sharon Gaffka. .
